Olympics, heights, and spiders!

There are few things I love more than the SUMMER OLYMPICS! This year, Josh and I went to my moms for some olympic themed dinner during the opening ceremonies. I was in charge of the desserts and I found a "recipe" to make these little beauties.

All it took was Fruit by the Foot and white Oreos and everybody got patriotic "gold medals" :) Thanks to the Olympics, I have an excuse to go bug my mom every day with the excuse of needing to watch gymnastics, swimming, and synchronized diving!

Now that the weather has cleared up, my work was finally able to do a date night down at the course. They are making a video to advertise the course to the students on campus this year so we all got a free date night to provide the footage. It was sooo much fun to get to play this time instead of working.
We built a new event a few days ago called The Flying Squirrel. The videos speak for themselves. It is by far my favorite event :)
We also got to test out this new element which was quite the workout trying to hold Josh up. Even though I have super strength, for some reason we didn't last very long haha

This is about as far as we managed to make it haha

As exciting as the ropes course was, the most adrenaline pumping moment of my week was definitely when this bad boy showed up on our bedroom floor. Although you can't really tell in the picture, he was HUGE!! I put the hair tie there to show what a beast he was but even that doesn't do his hugeness justice. When we find bugs in the house usually, I ask Josh to catch them and free them outside but this guy definitely got squished as soon as this picture was taken. Sorry spider, you're just a little too huge for me :D

Our Tiny Home

I've put off posting an update on our lives because pretty much NOTHING is going on right now. Josh works in Ogden all week and I've been working six days a week lately so things have been pretty dull around here. Our date from the Date Jar was to find five broken things in our house and fix them together which really isn't picture worthy so I don't have any date pictures even. So I decided to post pictures of our tiny little house for my out of state family to see. I know it isn't much to brag about but I LOVE this house. I wake up happy to be here every morning because it took Josh and me a lot of work to get to this point in our lives. One day we will hopefully have much more than this but for now I'm enjoying every minute in our little underground bunker.

View from the font

Our little backyard complete with squash and tomatoes growing along the fence. Sometimes when the sun starts going down and it cools off, Josh and I procrastinate on what needs to be done and swing on that swing instead :)
My little piano nook. Josh got me a book filled with Disney sheet music so our house sounds like a constant Disney movie at the moment.

Our living room/office
Our kitchen with some FANCY floors!

Our hallway to the bathroom and bedroom

A tiny peak into the bathroom

and finally, the softest comforter you'll ever feel. I love our bedding!

That's all I've got for now. Josh and I have a fun night planned for Saturday so hopefully we will have some pictures from that to give our blog a little more excitement!

Quite a Week

This past week was filled with more fun than work for the first time in a long time! Well, for me at least. Josh is working in Ogden for the rest of the summer and spends most of his week working or driving to work. Although it has been a big change for both of us, he is making a lot more money and we appreciate our time we actually get to spend together more than ever. For example, we drew from the Date Jar this week and it said to "create a blog about your lives together".......we let ourselves draw again and threw that one away haha. Our new and improved date night was to "go paintballing." We tried to find a place where we could do this but the nearest place was over an hour away and not super cheap so we tweaked our date. Instead, we invited my brother, his wife, my sister, and her boyfriend to go laser tagging with us on two dollar Tuesday!! It was soooooo much fun!!

For those who have been laser tagging before, you know that it is common knowledge to wear DARK colored clothing so you can be sneaky. Please notice Cassidy and Blake's outfit choice below. They walked in and we started laughing at their wardrobe choice. You'd think that all of those bright colors meant they lost? Nope, luckily for them, I am a HORRIBLE handicap to my team and Josh and I lost...badly haha.

 The sweaty aftermath
Afterwards, we decided to go to COLD STONE!!! (Scott is dropping Jen into the street in this picture by the way) Josh and I had all-you-can-eat sushi right before laser tag so we weren't really in the mood to have anything else crammed into our stomachs.
Until I saw these bad boys:
Yes, Cold Stone now sells caramel of course, we had to get some.

The next day Josh and I went to Bear Lake for his annual family reunion (which I am now officially part of!!) We don't have a lot of pictures to show for that one but here is one that we did manage to snap.

Josh was working the rest of the week so I spent a lot of my free time with my family. Scott made this really fun trivia game that we ended up playing. It has great categories, my personal favorite being "animal sex facts."
Needless to say, we spent most of the night laughing.
Jen and I were the BEST TEAM EVER!! We kicked everybody in the trivia portion but lost by one point in Final Jeopardy :(
These two are HORRIBLE cheaters. They were asking Siri all of the trivia questions secretly behind our backs...
 Their attempt at looking innocent...
Finally, at the end of the week I received a pretty cool award. I have been mentoring a now 14 year old since she was 11 through 4-H YFP. If you have any sort of youth mentoring program in your area, I encourage you to do it. It has been one of the most rewarding things I have put my time into. My amazing "mentee" has made a lot of progress since she entered the program and I got some recognition for all of her hard work. Josh had to work so my mom and I went to the award banquet and spent a fun night together learning about other great people in the 4-H program making a difference.

All in all it was a fabulous week that flew by. I can't believe how quickly summer is coming to an end. We will finish our last year of our undergrad before we know it!

One Month Down!

We have officially been married one month today!! It has gone by unbelievably fast but seems like so much has happened at the same time. To celebrate, we went on our Date Night Jar date which was to "Go to a bar and play pool."

Luckily, there is a bar in Logan (who knew?) and so we went and played two games.

The first game Josh kicked my butt. However, I realized that my wedding ring was to blame since Josh didn't have his on (it's getting resized at the jewelers). So I took the ring off and I beat him!! We ended there as a compromise between who was the better player (even though I know I am).

When we stepped outside, TONS of people were lining the street waiting for the Cache Valley Cruise In to start. My mom and I had been laughing at how these people have had their chairs lining main street for days just to watch some cars drive by. Suddenly, when everybody was sitting waiting, I decided we needed to watch too. Luckily, our camping chairs were in Josh's car so we grabbed them, grabbed some ice cream from Bluebird and picked a great seat among the die hards who had been waiting hours. Ten minutes later, the cars started coming. It was actually pretty cool! :)

We finished off our night with a free night's stay at the University Inn thanks to my work and got to actually watch some cable tv!! Don't get me wrong, I don't mind living the poor newlywed life but I do miss having cable!! Now that a month is done and celebrated, I have to wait five more months before I have an excuse to have an extravagant date night :/ Although, at the rate it has been going, December will be here before we know it!

Tonight for dinner, I made my first "I've never made this recipe before but lets go for it and see what happens" meal. It was a recipe I got from an old roommate that is a baked cheesy mostaccioli pasta. Josh loved it but I, not being the biggest fan of cheese, should've known this wasn't going to be a number one meal for me. Regardless, I'm glad I made it and now Josh has lots of leftovers to bring to work with him.

Going back a little further in the week, we met with my family for Logan's third of July fireworks show and a family picnic. Lots of fun with lots of cakeballs!!
(As we pose for this picture, please notice the boys and my mom are digging in to some delicious cake balls made my ME!!...well mostly my mom and I put some sprinkles on them,,,)

I really am loving this blog. It forces me to take pictures when I used to be terrible at documenting any sort of life event. When I was putting together the slideshow for our wedding, I realized that after over three years of dating, there were hardly any pictures of us. So now I've gotten into the habit of bringing the camera with me and hopefully down the road, I'll be happy to have spent the time to put them all together :D

June 8th, 2012

Our wedding day was such a wonderful experience thanks to all of the hard work put in by my mom and aunt Pam. It looked EXACTLY like I had envisioned and my great photographer Eric ( Izlas Imaging ) did a wonderful job capturing it. I was worried that the rainstorm predicted for that night might come a little earlier than planned but luckily all we got were clouds that made for some incredible pictures. I love looking at others' wedding pictures but I'm often overwhelmed when they put hundreds up at once. So, after hours of sifting through my own pictures, I decided to put up just a few of my very favorites. Enjoy!!

I saw this picture of a couple standing on each side of a door before their ceremony on pinterest and had to copy it!

This is one of my VERY FAVORITE pictures! I loooove my little brother!!

Jen is the perfect match for my older brother...their poor children will be such crybabies ;)
I came across the vows we recited a few months before the wedding and thought they were absolutely perfect...Who knew they'd be perfect enough to draw some tears from this stubborn boy who swore he wouldn't cry?

"With this ring, I give you my promise that from this day forward you shall not walk alone.
I have no greater gift to give.
May my heart be your shelter
and my arms be your home.
May we walk together through all things.
May you feel deeply loved, for indeed you are.
May you always see the innocence in my eyes.
May we feel this joy forever."

 Josh's Parents
 My Parents
The one who made it all possible. I'm so lucky to have the mom that I do.
One of the few pictures where Cassidy and I actually look somewhat alike

My Flower Girl!! Love this little lady and her mom!

Josh casually sucking cake from my eyelashes...
Cassidy's triumphant catch of the bouquet.
I love this picture for many reasons. First, it shows what poor sportmanship Cassidy has as she taunts the others. But what makes this picture is the horrified look on her boyfriend Blake's face in the background as Scott laughs at him.

It was such a wonderful day and these pictures only show a small portion of how much fun it really was. It went by so quickly (as everyone warned it would) but even though all the dresses and flowers are done, I still get to come home to my sweet husband everyday and I honestly don't see how the happiness in that will ever wear off.
